About NUOPTIMA

NUOPTIMA is a growth agency. We deliver nearly all online digital marketing services in-house with an expert team, and we typically win clients through word of mouth and referrals. Referrals are great, but they are not predictable. We wanted a steady, compounding stream of new clients, so we set out to build one with our own SEO.

The hard part is that digital marketing is a mature industry. Most service keywords and niches are highly competitive, and buying our way to the top of "marketing agency" was never the plan. So we tasked ourselves with a different job: find the sub-niches where a well-executed agency could own the search results long term.

Who we were targeting

Rather than fight for a crowded head term like "marketing agency," NUOPTIMA aimed its own SEO at sub-niches where a well-executed agency could own the search results long term, then built content and links to match how those buyers search.

  • Amazon store owners with only a small pool of reliable service providers to choose from, targeted through Amazon-focused content and eventually high-intent terms like "Amazon Agency."
  • Businesses in specific verticals searching for "SEO for X" services, such as "SEO for estate agents," reached through hundreds of industry-specific landing pages built on NUOPTIMA's existing SEO topical authority.

What we did

After analyzing various niches and the long-term e-commerce space, we hypothesized that Amazon digital marketing services was an interesting sub-niche. Looking at the competitive landscape, we saw that most Amazon store owners only have a small pool of reliable service providers to buy from, which meant room for a credible new entrant.

We also went hunting through the SEO space for sub-niches, and what we found was interesting. There is a wide host of sector-specific SEO niches, such as SEO for physiotherapists, that remain untapped. So we ran two plays at once: Amazon services and vertical "SEO for X" landing pages.

Content writing for Amazon

20,000

Monthly words written

NUOPTIMA started with very little topical authority in the Amazon niche. Our parent company, Alphagreen Group Limited, does buy Amazon brands, but that link is limited at best from an SEO perspective. So we focused on creating high-quality Amazon content at volume, roughly 20,000 words a month. A Google search now returns 296 individual pages related to Amazon.

Those 296 pages were ranking for just under 2,000 keywords in the Amazon niche in under 2 months.

The long-term goal is to rank for high-intent keywords like "Amazon Agency," which routinely bring qualified leads straight to NUOPTIMA.

Content writing for SEO sub-niches

Because NUOPTIMA already had strong topical authority in SEO, the second play was building high-intent landing pages for individual verticals. We systematically created hundreds of pages targeted at specific industries, and Google began to index those keywords.

With SEO, the rule is to write and publish fast so Google has the most time to read, ingest, and index the pages. Once we work through the content backlog, we revisit those pages to improve UX and behavioral factors.

This was only the start of NUOPTIMA's SEO journey, but the leading indexation indicators pointed the right way. By ranking these pages organically, we expected materially lower customer acquisition costs. The table below shows a cost per click of over £18 for "SEO for estate agents," a term we are very likely to rank organically for, which turns an £18 paid click into a free one.

Given the move into the Amazon niche, it was vital to marry the new content with high-quality backlinks. Our process for identifying good sites includes measuring the publisher's site quality, analyzing their inbound and outbound links, and checking how Google treats them. We placed 150+ links at an average domain rating of 56, and our own domain rating climbed from 5 to 22 across the engagement.

If a site is on the rise in organic traffic, that is a good sign Google views it favorably, which makes a backlink from it valuable. It is an appreciating asset. You will also notice we introduced Amazon-related anchors into the profile to further signal our authority to Google.

Key takeaways

  1. Uncontested sub-niches beat crowded head terms. Instead of fighting for "marketing agency," we found sub-niches like Amazon services and vertical SEO pages where a strong agency could actually own the results.
  2. Organic ranking is a CAC lever, not a vanity metric. Ranking for a term like "SEO for estate agents" replaces an £18 paid click with a free one, which is why we pushed hundreds of high-intent pages.
  3. Content and links have to move together. The 150+ backlinks at DR 56 with Amazon anchors are what turned 296 new pages into 2,000 rankings in under 2 months.
