Best Managed IT Service Providers in Kansas City | 2026

Eight Kansas City managed IT companies compared on support hours, published pricing, contract terms and fit for 20 to 300 person businesses.

The eight firms on this page sit between Riverside in the Northland and Overland Park, Kansas, and they split on the things a buyer checks first. One posts plan prices and a 36-month term online; another signs no long-term contracts. Help desk hours for information technology (IT) support run from weekday office hours to an engineer who answers at any hour.

So this page compares the best managed IT services Kansas City offers on what you can check yourself: support hours, published prices, contract length and the client each firm is built for. Each company is a managed service provider (MSP), running your IT for a recurring monthly fee.

It is written for owners of 20 to 300 person companies on either side of the state line whose current provider has slipped or never fit. Each entry names which side of the state line its office is on. Numbering is for finding your way; the order reflects fit for this reader, never a quality score.

How this list was built

We checked each firm against five tests:

  1. Facts from the source. Everything comes from the provider's own website and Google Business Profile, plus Clutch or LinkedIn where a fact card says so.
  2. A metro address. An office on the Missouri or Kansas side of the metro, or a stated Kansas City service area.
  3. Recurring managed services beyond project or break-fix work.
  4. A live website that is clearly the company's own.
  5. Published numbers only. Hours, prices and response figures appear only where the provider publishes them.

Left out: hourly or project-only shops, firms with no office or service area between the Northland and Johnson County, and firms with "MSP" in their name. Last reviewed on November 7, 2026.

Each entry opens with a fact card. Review summaries are our reading of each firm's most recent Google reviews (up to 40), pulled in November 2026. Pricing marked Clutch is the hourly band the firm reports on its Clutch profile. Team counts and founding years marked LinkedIn come from the firm's LinkedIn page. Fields we could not confirm are left off the card.

Kansas City managed IT providers side by side

Each row shows the firm's headquarters (HQ), nearest office or stated service area, its Google rating, its support coverage and one thing it is known for. Google ratings are from each firm's Google Business Profile, read in November 2026. Under Google, n/a means we found no rating we could match to the firm; under Support, it means we could not confirm its support hours.

NetStandard homepage, November 2026

NetStandard publishes hard numbers for its help desk: a 13-second average phone wait, 94% of calls answered live and a 9.8-minute average to the first engineer response on emailed tickets. Its Kansas City page says a NetStandard engineer answers, day or night.

It also publishes what fully managed support typically costs, $100 to $250 per user per month, with co-managed plans priced lower, a yardstick for other Kansas City quotes. The company began here in 1996 as an IBM mainframe specialist, moved into managed services in 2006 and is still led by its co-founders. It is System and Organization Controls (SOC) 2 Type 2 audited, and its engineers drive on site from the Northland to Olathe and from Kansas City, Kansas to Lee's Summit.

Best fit: A 10 to 250 person company that wants an engineer on the line at any hour, or a larger firm with IT staff that needs co-managed help.

Think twice if: You want a Missouri-side office: the Kansas City office is the Overland Park, Kansas headquarters, and the only other listed office is in Des Moines, Iowa.

Complete Technology Services is direct about fit: its homepage says that if its offerings do not match your needs, it would rather recommend a different provider. It aims at small and midsize businesses of roughly 20 to 250 employees.

IT support and system monitoring run 24/7/365 for one flat monthly fee, with packages that start with a plan for companies of 10 or fewer employees. Founded in 2015, the firm made the Kansas City Business Journal Fast 50 four years running, from 2019 to 2022. It works from 8080 Ward Parkway and runs a second office in Virginia Beach. Defense contractors will find a dedicated page on Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) compliance. Its Kansas City page says services can include help desk support, Microsoft 365 management, backup and disaster recovery, and co-managed IT.

Best fit: A growing company of 20 to 250 people that wants round-the-clock coverage for one flat fee.

Think twice if: You run a university or a municipality: the firm says it does not typically provide managed IT for either.

Founded in 1999 and headquartered in St. Louis, the company runs its Kansas City work from 1100 Main Street, covering Downtown, the Plaza, the Crossroads, Brookside, the Northland and the Johnson County suburbs. It states an average response under 90 seconds and 93% of tickets resolved the same day. It has practiced open-book management since 2010, with employees sharing in profits, and was first named to the MSP 501 list in 2014. Its industry pages run from manufacturing and law firms to construction and churches.

Best fit: A business that has been burned by a long contract and wants planning help without a multi-year term.

Blue Tree Technology homepage, November 2026

Blue Tree Technology publishes two things you would normally ask for on a first call: its prices and its recent service record. The homepage carries rolling 30-day response and resolution averages, and the firm says automated acknowledgments and artificial intelligence (AI) replies do not count as a response.

Compass Flex for 1 to 10 users starts at $517.44 a month and Compass Core for 1 to 100 users at $670.72, both on 36-month terms, with critical tickets targeted under 2 hours. About 70 of the 300-plus businesses it has served since 2001 hold managed service agreements today. The Riverside firm, women-owned (certified by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council) and minority-owned, helps clients prepare for SOC 2, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

Best fit: An accounting, law, engineering or manufacturing firm of up to 100 users that wants price and track record before a sales call.

Think twice if: You need people on the phone at night: the staffed help desk runs weekdays 8 AM to 6 PM Central, the site says it does not provide 24/7 support, and published plans carry a 36-month term.

MDL Technology homepage, November 2026

For a city government or police department, MDL Technology can point to named public-sector clients. The City of Pleasant Valley, Missouri has been a client since 2014, with support covering city hall, courts, fire and police, and the firm publishes a Raytown Police Department case study too.

Founded in 2003, MDL dispatches technicians the same day from its Swift Street office in North Kansas City, whether the call comes from the Crossroads, the Plaza or near the airport. It keeps pages for Kansas-side suburbs as well, from Overland Park and Lenexa to Prairie Village. Security is watched 24/7, with endpoint detection and response (EDR) and managed detection and response (MDR) in the service list. Compliance work covers CMMC and HIPAA, and pricing is a flat monthly fee.

Best fit: A municipality, healthcare practice or law firm that values same-day technician dispatch and round-the-clock security monitoring.

Think twice if: You expect a person on the help desk after hours: it lists Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM Central, with after-hours calls by phone, from a single North Kansas City office.

Purpose Technology Group homepage, November 2026

Purpose Technology Group builds its practice around nonprofits and mission-driven businesses, and backs that with money: in 2025 it gave more than 15% of its profits to Kansas City nonprofits. Its building at 2007 Broadway in the Crossroads Arts District has an event space nonprofits can use for free.

The fully managed plan charges a fixed fee per device and includes unlimited remote and onsite support, with 24/7 ticketing and monitoring, so the bill tracks your device count. Cornerstones of Care, a nonprofit client, reported a 40% increase in end-user satisfaction after leaving a provider it had used for more than 12 years. Purpose was named a 2026 MSPs to Watch winner and moved its headquarters to the Crossroads from Overland Park.

Best fit: A nonprofit or mission-driven organization that wants unlimited support at a predictable per-device cost.

Think twice if: A long corporate track record matters to your board: Purpose became an independent company only recently, though its team has delivered managed IT in Kansas City since 2017.

Kansas City Managed IT homepage, November 2026

The line that sticks on Kansas City Managed IT's homepage comes from a client: after a tornado destroyed that client's offices, the team was on the scene the next day to remove servers and computers.

The service list stays just as hands-on: backup, disaster and data recovery, desktop and server support, network cabling and managed email, billed at a flat rate agreed with each client. IT support runs 24/7, and the office keeps weekday hours of 9 AM to 5 PM. Founded in 2005, the firm works from 420 Bannister Road in Kansas City, Missouri and serves an area from Blue Springs and Lee's Summit to Gardner and Lawrence. Testimonials from a dermatology office and a mortgage lender sit beside a Weston Transportation case study.

Best fit: A small business that wants hands-on backup, cabling and recovery help at a flat rate agreed up front.

Think twice if: You want a provider with more than one location: it lists one office, on Bannister Road, so a Lawrence or Gardner client should ask about drive times.

RESULTS Technology homepage, November 2026

RESULTS Technology sits last for one reason: it will turn most readers away. Its Overland Park page says it works only with banks and credit unions.

For a community bank, that focus is the selling point. RESULTS is the endorsed IT provider of the Community Bankers Association of Kansas, and core banking software vendors Data Center, Inc. (2015), Automated Systems, Inc. (2021) and FPS GOLD (2023) endorse it as a managed IT provider. It is SOC 2 audited every year, and its 24/7/365 service desk covers every employee on any device. The homepage states a 30-second average wait for a technician and 82% of issues resolved on first contact. Offices sit in North Kansas City, Missouri and Overland Park, Kansas.

Best fit: A community bank or credit union that wants a provider already endorsed by its core banking software vendor.

Think twice if: You are not a bank or a credit union: RESULTS works only with those institutions.

How to choose a managed IT provider in Kansas City

Start with the shape of the price. All eight describe how they bill, in four different ways. NetStandard prices per user, Purpose Technology Group per device and Blue Tree Technology in published plan tiers, with Compass Flex starting at $517.44 a month. MDL Technology, ThrottleNet and Complete Technology Services charge a flat monthly fee, RESULTS Technology describes flat-fee support, and Kansas City Managed IT agrees a flat rate with each client. Ask each finalist for a per-user equivalent so the bids line up.

Then find out who answers the phone. MDL Technology and Blue Tree Technology staff weekday help desks, ThrottleNet's standard tier covers 7 AM to 11 PM on weekdays, and NetStandard, Complete Technology Services, Kansas City Managed IT and RESULTS Technology state 24/7 support. Blue Tree monitors devices 24/7 and MDL runs 24/7 security monitoring, but both staff the desk by day. If your staff work evenings, ask who picks up at 9 PM on a Saturday.

Read the service level agreement (SLA) for its definition of a response. Blue Tree leaves auto-replies out of its count; ask the others, and get the critical-ticket target in writing.

For on-site work, a technician leaving North Kansas City faces a different drive to Lenexa than one leaving Overland Park, so ask for typical arrival times to your street.

Defense suppliers can ask MDL Technology and Complete Technology Services about CMMC; healthcare practices can ask MDL and Blue Tree about HIPAA. NetStandard and RESULTS Technology say they are SOC 2 audited, so ask for the latest report.

Contract terms run from no long-term commitment at ThrottleNet to 36 months on Blue Tree's published plans. Before signing, confirm the notice period, any offboarding fee and how your passwords and licenses come back.

Questions for the first call with a Kansas City shortlist:

  • Who answers after hours, and do they work for you or a third party?
  • What were your response and resolution averages over the last 30 days?
  • Is a trip from your office to ours included in the monthly fee or billed separately?
  • What is the minimum term, and what does it cost to leave early?
  • Which metro clients match us on size and industry, and can we call one?

Providers reading this: suburb pages like Blue Tree's and MDL's for Olathe and Lenexa are a local search engine optimization (SEO) choice, and the local SEO guide for MSPs explains why.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much do managed IT services cost in Kansas City?

Two firms on this list publish figures. NetStandard says fully managed support typically runs $100 to $250 per user per month, with co-managed plans costing less. Blue Tree Technology's Compass Flex plan for 1 to 10 users starts at $517.44 a month and Compass Core for 1 to 100 users starts at $670.72 a month, both on a 36-month term. Other firms charge a flat fee or a fixed fee per device, so ask each one for a per-user equivalent.

What does a managed IT plan usually include?

Blue Tree Technology and MDL Technology both list help desk, cybersecurity, backup and disaster recovery, and Microsoft 365 and cloud work among their services. On-site work varies by provider: Purpose Technology Group's fully managed plan includes unlimited remote and onsite support. Check the hours as well. Blue Tree Technology monitors devices 24/7 and MDL Technology runs 24/7 security monitoring, but both staff their help desks on weekdays, so 24/7 monitoring does not always mean a person on the phone at night.

How do I switch managed IT providers without downtime?

Read your current contract for the notice period and exit terms first. Get admin credentials, documentation and license ownership confirmed in writing, then overlap the new provider's onboarding with the old provider's final weeks. A long relationship is no reason to stay put: Cornerstones of Care moved to Purpose Technology Group after more than 12 years with its previous provider and reported a 40% increase in end-user satisfaction.

Should I pick a local Kansas City provider or a national one?

On-site reach and who answers the phone matter more than where the headquarters sits. ThrottleNet is based in St. Louis with a downtown Kansas City office at 1100 Main Street. NetStandard is headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas, with a second office in Des Moines, Iowa. Complete Technology Services has a second office in Virginia Beach. Whichever you choose, ask which office your technician would drive from and how long the trip usually takes.

Do I need 24/7 IT support?

Only if people work outside business hours or overnight downtime costs you money. NetStandard, Complete Technology Services, Kansas City Managed IT and RESULTS Technology state 24/7 support. Blue Tree Technology and MDL Technology run weekday help desks, with 24/7 device or security monitoring, and ThrottleNet's standard support runs weekdays from 7 AM to 11 PM, with 24/7 for eligible fully managed clients. Ask whether a person or an automated alert covers the night.
